Felix Well... I have been molesting bass guitars since I was about 12 years old, or something along the lines of that... However, there have been huge gaps when I've played almost nothing at all. But since you didn't ask about my life's story, I'll try to sum it up with a "hmm"... I'd guess it's something like 5 years since I started playing more actively again. And that guess is probably off by 5-10 years. When it comes to gear, my motto is "beggars can't be choosers". At the moment, for the gigs I rely on a pretty nifty little toy from ESP Ltd, some customized version of the F-series, methinks. Google it up if you feel the need to know what it approximately looks like (we all know looks are everything, right?). For my own personal annoy-the-neighbors needs I use a pretty standard Ibanez Soundgear... SGR400, or something like that. Cheap little bugger that has great playability, and if the tech breaks down, you can always fix it with spare parts from your toaster. When it comes to amps, I'm kinda "in between" 'em at the moment. Cheers.

shamsie Yarh. Aye, I've plowed through my fair share of less-succesful bands. Nothing really serious, though. In my teens I played in one of those bands that only cover Foo Fighters and/or Metallica (you all know the kind, surely). Actually, there might have been more than one of those bands. Later on I have been jamming with a great deal of different people, and although it has almost always been "just for fun" or for the practice's sake, we've had some pretty interesting projects. Including, but not limited to, the world's shittiest (intentionally) black metal band, the world's shittiest (not-so-intentionally) progressive rock band, and a project that only played theme songs from TV-shows and computer games from the glorious 80s. Great fun. Cheers

shamsie Yarh! Ouch, that's a tough one... To be quite feckin' honest, it's hard to tell who's been the most influential on 1) the way I play, and 2) the way I strive to become a better "musician". The answer to the first question is perhaps the hardest, since I have no feckin' way of telling what I really sound like, but it might be slightly easier to answer the second. Without turning this into an essay, there have been a multitude of bassplayers/musicians that have made me go "Whoa, I wanna do that!". If we narrow it down to bassists, I've got a few that kinda stand out. 1) Dirk Lance (of Incubus), did a really nice job on their first EP and first full-length album. Kudos to him. Strange as it may sound, he inspired me to explore a more funky and jazzy approach to playing the bass (can't rely on funk and jazz players to do that, can you...) 2) Les Claypool (of Primus fame) is perhaps my alltime favorite bassplayer ever. Few are the things he has touched, that have not turned into gold. He could release poo on a stick as his next album, and I would buy it. A bit naive, perhaps, but such is the way of the devoted fan. I have, however, not the slightest illusion of ever sounding even the slightest bit like him. 3) Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam) is another bassist that has probably influenced me more than I'd like to admit. His style of using the bass to add precisely what a song needs is (in my humble opinion), in a way, very Paul McCartneyish, and I like that. It gives the fourstringer more dimension and depth than just being "the third guitar, with a lower pitch". Since I realize this list could go on forever, I'm gonna have to stop the detailed info at this point, although I could go on forever about Billy Gould, pre-Metallica Rob Trujillo, P-Nut of 311, Victor Wooten and many, many, many, many others. I will, however, end this with a fun anecdote that may, or may not, completely destroy my street-cred as a heavy metal musician (?). One of the first bass-licks ever ( if not THE first one) that made me wanna play the bass, was the one in Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man", especially the lick at the end of the song. Suck on this!

shamsie Well... obviously, they found me as a result of my wicked skills.... duh... =) Seriously though, they recruited me from a Croatian slave camp. My salary is 2 Snickers bars per day, plus all the Female Hygiene Products I might need for The Road. And Extra-Super-Mega-Seriously: Yeah, we're all mates, outside the band as well as inside. We don't see each other every day, but at the end of the day we're all pretty closely knit... So, yeah... =) I hate to use the obvious cliché, but it's almost like one big happy family.

Is there already known something about gigs in the next year? To use the standard answer for The Press: "I could tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya.." =) Yeah, all jokes aside, I can't really say anything about next year... All we can guess (and in some manner foretell) is that it's gonna be a busy year for us all. We're gonna be working on some new material, and there will be gigs. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to speak out as to where these gigs are gonna be at, when they're taking place, why we're doing them or whether I will be present. It's all a mystery (sometimes even to ourselves), it's an enigma.. and above all... it's... Secret..! ...and it's a grim one... I'm afraid that's all I can say without Them (!) finding out.. =)
